Nicholas had to do a project on 'volcanoes' for school. He had to write an article about volcanoes and then he had to make an actual volcano and he was going to be given extra credit if he could make it erupt. And boy did he make that sucker ERUPT!! We bought a piece of plywood to build our volcano on and then we set in place a 2 liter bottle of red soda. We covered the bottle with Great Stuff (and boy is it ever) and once that dried he painted it volcano-y colors. He was so proud of this project. It really did look amazing. More than half of his class made little non-erupting volcanoes out of play dough so his was quite massive in comparison. When it was time for the 'eruption', he carried it outside and dropped in a few Mentos and thar she blowed!!!

Now for an update on school...we just had our parent/teacher conferences and got REPORT CARDS this week!! Nicholas (4th grade) is on the teacher's Honor Roll with his 3 A's and 2 B's. Great job, Nick! And Jackson (Kindergarten) has 'mastered' everything he has to learn in Kindergarten and there is still a whole trimester left to go. His teacher is having a hard time keeping him busy because he already 'knows everything.' That's what he says anyway. He gets to help some of his classmates with areas they're struggling with and he seems to like that. He's reading on a first grade level already and she's currently testing him to see if he's even beyond that. Way to go, Jack!! We're so proud of both of them!

4 Shout Outs:
That is an AWESOME volcano!
Congrats to both boys! Of course my nephews are brilliant, I wouldn't have expected any less!
What is "great stuff?" Is that the actual product name? I want some of that...it looks cool. I wonder what people would think if we erupted a Mentos volcano at the park?
Outstanding!!! Your volcano looks amazing! And. . . Congratulations to both boys. Way to be outstanding students!
Thanks guys! I was pretty impressed the volcano if I do say so myself!
Jenny, yes the product is called 'Great Stuff' and you want the RED can. It gets hard. We bought it at Home Depot.
