All Aboard.....

Last night, the boys enjoyed a glorious ride on the Tahoe Express. It was soooo much fun! And the excitement on their faces when they found the tickets in their bed was awesome. They were out the door in less than a minute. Caden found the whole thing so exciting he fell asleep on the ride. He did have plenty of ooooohs and aaaaaahs before he fell asleep though. Here are some pictures from our journey!

The boys proudly showing off their tickets.

"Oooh, we get chocolate, too! Thanks mom and dad!"

Ho Ho Ho!!!

This house had a ton of "Christmas Spirit", that's why I'm callin' it anyway.
"Can we do this again tomorrow?"
I loved this carousel ride. And they had the perfect little rock formation to display it on.
The prettiest house in the development you say? Why it's ours, of course!
The boys hung their tickets on their Christmas trees.

A Little Runnin' Around....

The boys and I went over to our frisbee golf park for a little runnin' around. Boys get sooo bored so quickly being all couped up all day. Girls may get just as bored but that I will just never know! We do not own the frisbee set that is used for frisbee golf so the older two boys grabbed a little toy basketball to throw back and forth. Hey, whatever works AND gets you out of the house, right? Caden was having a hard time walking in the lush grass and kept falling. He doesn't really care for the feel of the cold, wet grass on his little cold, numb hands (can't say that I blame him) so he held onto my finger or my legs for most of our outing. He was just as happy as the other two just to be out and about.

Just checking out the scene upon our arrival.

"Huuuuuh...Oooooooh!" Caden spotted some golfers.Hangin' out on a surface where he can stay upright.Cade's doing his best Lightning McQueen impression or waiting for it to snow. I'm not exactly sure which.

One cool gift!

I'm Santa's Coolest Gift....
(see, it says so right on the shirt!)

And I know it!!

My funny boy!

Caden is so funny! He will gasp and suck in air when he drops a toy or something or sees Christmas lights out the car window. I don't know how to spell the noise he makes but it's so darn cute! I guess the closest I can get is a "huuuuuuuh," it really does just sound like air being sucked in but the cute part is the face he makes to accompany the noise. How cute is this??

Christmas at the square!

There are some perks to living in an itty bitty town. And, no, shopping isn't one of them!! We had our 42nd Annual "Lighting of the Christmas Tree" this evening in our downtown square. There were only a couple hundred people there (yep, that's pretty much all of them, ha ha!) so it was easy to find a parking place and even easier to keep track of the boys. It was very VERY cold this evening though. But the games and SANTA seemed to make the freezing cold all the more tolerable. For the boys, anyway. Caden was the real trooper. He didn't really give a rip about the games or Santa...he spent most of the evening trying to get his darn hood off of his head.

This was the first game the boys played. It was the "Reindeer Walk". It was like the cake walk but instead of winning a cake, you won a reindeer. No, wait a minute...that's not right. It should have been called the "Jingle Bell Walk" because that's what you won. It most definitely was NOT a reindeer! Whew! Jackson won his first time playing. He was proud of his jingle bells. Here is our cute little bundled up Caden. He was not fond of the hood but his ears were probably very thankful. He really worked on trying to get that thing off of his head. Next, the boys played the "Unwrap Race". They basically had to unwrap a Hershey's kiss while wearing gloves. Nicholas won that race and quickly ate the chocolate. Jack, on the other hand, is no fool. He wanted no part of the chocolate but wanted to keep the gloves. Poor guy! He did (reluctantly) return the gloves for the next participant to use. Now, off to the "Candy Cane" race. I think they liked this one the best because it involved moving which created momentary warmth. Each game station provided the "winner" with a fun little Christmas toy. The boys cleaned up. Caden's still working on that darn hood. But his ears ARE still warm!!Well, here she is!! This is what all the hoopla is about. This tree! Yes, this one. The boys!! Three red noses, check! The "Snowman Toss". This game was actually harder than it looked. Neither Jack nor Nicholas got a single bean bag through a hole. And do you know what that means? That's right...it was a tie. So they both got a prize. What a great town!!This is the "Christmas Card Making Station". They both decided to make their dad a card since he had to work and miss the freezing cold evening, um I mean all of the wonderful festivities. Ah, and the last of the games. The "Penguin Walk". Enough said. Santa was quite the hit. He had his own police escort entrance. Sirens and all. And he rode in on a fire truck. Not too shabby. But, the Santa is a little spooky looking if you ask me. Could they not find one single man in this town with a real beard? Heck, we saw several of them in the crowd. As you can see, the boys were a little bothered by him as well. Most kids sat in his lap. My kids kept their distance but got close enough to tell the big guy what they wanted. I mean, really, how scary can he be...he does bring PRESENTS!!

Home "Sweet" Home

The Christmas holiday season is all about baking, eating, caroling, decorating, and gingerbread house making! And a whole lot more. Earlier this evening we put on some Christmas music and flung frosting all over the kitchen table. It was so much fun! And the house turned out pretty darn cute if I do say so myself. I'd buy it!! But it may be a wee bit small for our family of five.

Thankful!!

We had a lovely Thanksgiving celebration with the family yesterday. A celebration of family. Mom and Dad, you'll be able to experience the "celebration" first hand when you come out for Christmas! *wink wink* While we are thankful that the cost of crude oil is on a rapid decline, I was not so thankful that the cost of peanut oil is currently on the rise. Sixty bucks for a 5 gallon jug of peanut oil? Seriously, folks! So, I prepared my first ever roasted turkey and couldn't even taste the durn thing...um, that was due to a cold not a lack of seasoning! I plan on tasting some good food at Christmas though. We have so many things to be thankful for and I thought I'd share a few...

Jack is thankful Pop brought his cool new truck so that he and his cousins could "hang out" in it and even watch a movie while parked in our driveway. Good Times!!

Nicholas is thankful for Jessica and Jenna. They obviously love him VERY much. Nicholas, Jackson and Caden are thankful for their Pop!!
Jeff is thankful that he didn't have to carve the turkey. Thanks, Pop!
Caden is VERY thankful for that piece of glass that is separating him from those big dogs!!
And Jared is thankful for Caden's gentle touch!! Caden is showing Jared where his "nose" is.
